(More customer reviews)Titleist Pro V1 golf balls are multilayered golf balls that give a player more control with the short game. These spin so much, that I end up with craters on greens, at times. The golf balls have a nice soft feel which I can appreciate the most with putting. Where the game can be more equal between the professional and the amateur is the short game.
Given that the retail price of new Pro V1s are about $45 to $50, these are a really good deal. This has the same cost of some middle tiered golf balls but with medium spin. The quality of what you get is variable. I got lucky with a few boxes that looked indistinguishable from new. However, other batches still have ball marks from the prior poor soul who lost their ball in the 17th hole of TPC Sawgrass, for example.
I am a casual player and I do not participate in golf tournaments or club championships.
For an amateur player, whether you're practicing or trying to play with these balls, the short game won't make much of a difference regarding spin. The longer game may be sacrificed with regards to distance given the variability of how long these balls were submerged in water or how old they are.
For a middle handicap or single digit handicap playing a casual round or just practicing will not notice a significant difference in performance.
